1973 Versus 2006
Tulsa's median house was built in 1973 and 30.4 percent of its housing predates 1960. Jenks's median is 2006 and Owasso's is 2001. The older stock has masonry chimneys with clay tile flues; the newer has factory-built metal systems in framed chases. They fail differently, they are repaired differently, and one of them eventually runs out of listed parts.
Code adoption differs too. Owasso is on the 2018 IRC. Jenks adopted the 2015 IRC in the same round that took its other codes to 2018.
